About the Program
The Queens Community Closet connects corporate generosity with community need, ensuring no family goes without essentials.
The Showing Hearts Foundation
The Showing Hearts Foundation is a Queens-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2015. Our mission is to assist startup and growing organizations that are making a difference — by educating, empowering, and uplifting communities.
Over the past decade, we’ve served thousands of families across Queens through programs like the Youthpreneur Program (youth business and financial literacy), Showing Tech (technology initiatives), and The Hub (nonprofit coworking and resource center).
The Queens Community Closet is one of our newest and fastest-growing programs, directly addressing the everyday needs of families in our community.

10+ Years of Impact
Founded in 2015, serving Queens communities for over a decade through education, empowerment, and direct support programs.
What Are Community Closets?
Community closets are free distribution events where Queens families can receive clothing, household items, personal care products, and other daily essentials — all at no cost.
Each community closet is hosted by a local partner organization — typically a church or community center — that provides the space and volunteers to run the event. Items are sourced through corporate and community donations coordinated by the Showing Hearts Foundation.
There are no requirements to attend. No income verification, no registration, no questions asked. If you’re a family in Queens and you need these items, they’re yours.
How events typically work:
- 1Items are picked up from our centralized storage location and transported to the host venue.
- 2Volunteers sort and organize items by type and size before the event opens.
- 3Community members are welcomed in and can browse available items.
- 4Families take home whatever they need — clothing, household goods, personal care items, and more.
- 5Attendance is tracked so we can measure and grow our impact.
